The season four finale sees him struggling with that internal darkness when Megan, the woman who gave him hope for a time and kept his Goat at bay, proved as susceptible to corruption as the rest of his world. The beauty he once believed her to be was make believe. He seems to conclude in the end that only the Goat is real and (like another Capricorn avatar) returns to dark.
